    • Each server joins with its own bootstrap token, which expires after an hour and is deleted with its NodeClaim. Every bootstrap part can read it from /etc/karpenter-hetzner/join.env, together with NODE_NAME and REGISTER_TAINTS.
    • By default the provider generates the join: it installs k0s bootstrap.k0sVersion, sets the node's provider ID from the metadata service, and registers the node with the NodeClaim's taints.

    • Breaking: HCloudNodeClass.spec.bootstrap replaces spec.userData and spec.userDataSecretRef. A server boots bootstrap.beforeJoin, the join, and bootstrap.afterJoin; bootstrap.join replaces the generated join. Each part is inline or a secretRef. The HCloudNodeClass CRD changes, so apply it before helm upgrade, as the README describes.
    • Breaking: the chart requires apiServerURL, the API server address that new nodes join through.

    The first release, taken from upstream karpenter-provider-hetzner 3.0.1. Its
    history is in the upstream changelog.

    Added

    • The debian image family resolves Hetzner's Debian images, the newest unless imageSelector.version pins one, for example 13.
    • HCloudNodeClass.spec.kubelet declares the reservations the node's bootstrap applies (systemReserved, kubeReserved, evictionHard), and Karpenter subtracts them when computing allocatable.
    • A NodeClass without spec.kubelet keeps the flat 100m CPU and 100Mi memory kubeReserved; one that declares anything is taken at its word.
    • The HCloudNodeClass CRD carries spec.kubelet. Helm does not upgrade CRDs, so apply them before helm upgrade from upstream 3.0.1, as the README describes.
